Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray held a meeting with NCP president Sharad Pawar here, senior Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said on Tuesday, affirming that the government of the state is “strong”.
The two leaders met around one-and-a-half hours late in the evening of Monday, Raut said while dismissing speculations about the Thackeray-led government’s stability.
The Sena Rajya Sabha MP, however, do not reveal what happened between the two leaders.
The meeting between Thackeray and Pawar took place after the NCP chief met the Governor of the state, B S Koshyari on Monday morning.
NCP chief Sharad Pawar and the prime minister, Uddhav Thackeray had a meeting for one-and-one-half hours. Those who doubt about the stability of this government are doing so out of their own bitterness. This government is strong,” Raut twitter in Marathi.
Earlier, Pawar met Koshyari on Monday morning, after the PNC said that the meeting took place at the invitation of the governor and no political issues are presented for discussion.
However, the time of the meeting is important because it took place against the backdrop of strained relations between the Shiv Sena, who heads the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA), the government and the Raj Bhavan.
The NCP is one of the key components of MVA.
Pawar was one of the main leaders of Maharashtra who had openly complained Koshyari of the “intervention” in the functioning of the administration of the state.
Recently, a senior leader of the BJP and former state chief minister Devendra Fadnavis complained to the governor about the “failure” of the Thackeray government in the management of the Covid-19 of the crisis.
