New Delhi: After imposing a 57-hour marathon curfew in Ahmedabad, the Gujarat government has now decided to impose a night curfew in three other cities.
To verify the growing number of coronavirus cases, the Gujarat government announced on Friday that a night curfew will be imposed on Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot starting on Saturday, November 21.
Gujarat’s Chief Deputy Minister Nitin Patel announced a curfew between 9:00 pm and 6:00 am in the cities of Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara starting on Saturday. “The curfew will remain in effect until further announcement. I urge citizens to cooperate with the authorities to contain the virus,” Patel said in a statement.

The announcement comes days after the decision to impose a 57-hour weekend curfew in Ahmedabad It took effect from Friday night at 9 pm and will end at 6 am on November 23.
Furthermore, a night curfew has already been announced in Ahmedabad as of November 23.
Meanwhile, up to 305 cases of coronavirus infection were reported in the city of Ahmedabad alone in the last 24 hours on Friday. It was followed by 205 new cases in the city of Surat, 116 in Vadodara and 83 in the city of Rajkot.
Statewide, 1,420 new cases were reported Friday. By Thursday, Gujarat had added 1,340 cases, while on November 12 it had reported 1,120 cases.
Madhya Pradesh imposes overnight curfew in five districts
Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced a nightly curfew on Friday beginning November 21 in five districts of the state.
A curfew will be imposed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. in Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Vidisha and Ratlam districts. People engaged in essential services and factory workers are exempt.
