After teasing Apple, Xiaomi confirms that the Mi 11 retail box will not include USB charger

Months after teasing Apple for removing the charger from the iPhone 12’s retail box, Xiaomi has announced that it will also ship the next Mi 11 without a power adapter. The Mi 11 series that is expected to include the Mi 11 and the vanilla Mi 11 Pro will launch on December 28 in China. The latest development was shared by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun through a post on Weibo. Xiaomi echoes Apple’s reasoning related to protecting the environment for removing the charger from the Mi 11’s box. Additionally, Samsung, which also mocked Apple for its decision in October, is rumored to ship the next smartphones. Galaxy S21 without charger.

The Xiaomi executive further revealed the design of the Mi 11’s retail box which is not only thinner compared to other phone cases that come with a charger, but also lists some of the Mi 11’s features. Earlier this week, the Chinese technology company announced that the smartphones would feature a new screen technology with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Xiaomi has also shown the Geekbench scores of the Vanilla Mi 11 that are significantly higher than the scores obtained by the Mi 10. The new series will include the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC.

According to old rumors, the Vanilla Mi 11 would house a 108-megapixel primary sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter, and a 5-megapixel telephoto camera. On the other hand, the Pro variant leans to include a 50-megapixel primary sensor, accompanied by a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 48-megapixel telephoto shooter. Earlier this month, a notable insider calling himself the Digital Chat Station indicated that the Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro would include a 4,780 mAh and 4,970 mAh battery, respectively. Both smartphones are rumored to support a fast charging solution of up to 55W.
