Amid speculation about the next move by TMC dissident leader Suvendu Adhikari, another minister of state and TMC leader Rajib Banerjee lashed out at the party’s leadership on Saturday. “Those who are doing well, those with skill… are marginalized at TMC. The score of those who applaud the team is higher. My score is low because I can’t. If Suvendu Adhikari leaves, it will create a huge void in the team. It is important to find out why leaders are so angry. These topics should have been thought of before. Those who work in the field don’t get the upper hand. Power seekers are earning a spot on the team. It’s hard to say … [in TMC] good is bad, bad is good. “

TMC leaders were not available for comment.

On whether Suvendu Adhikari plans to join the BJP, the party’s national vice president, Mukul Roy, said, “Suvendu is the product of mass movements. The dilemma on this issue will become clear in a day or two. “Roy, a former TMC leader, added:” I made a political mistake by removing Suvendu as president of the youth wing (TMC). I regret it. “

On Rajib’s comments, Roy said: “What Rajib said reflects the pain of those who formed the party (TMC). If you listen carefully, you will hear those words from several other TMC leaders. Our position is clear to TMC and others… anyone who ever wants to join us is welcome ”.

On Friday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urged Contai Sisir Adhikari’s TMC deputy, who is Father Suvendu Adhikari, to rid the party of leaders who are allegedly involved in anti-party activities. In a virtual internal meeting held by Banerjee on Friday with top party leaders, district unit heads, MPs and MLA, he reportedly attached great importance to the Contai MP. This put an end to speculation that Sisir Adhikari might not attend the meeting considering her son’s relationship with the party.

A minister who attended the meeting reported that the CM entrusted Sisir Adhikari, vice president of the party, leaders of the failing party who engaged in anti-party activities in Purba Medinipur. The minister added that Banerjee asked Sisir Adhikari to work with TMC state chairman Subrata Bakshi and ensure the rebels are replaced by loyal party leaders in places like Nandigram, Haldia, Contai, Nandankumar and Ramnagar.

On Friday, TMC took action against a close associate of Suvendu. On Saturday, the TMC took action against four of its closest associates, the sources said.
