Apple has been in the news for a while and well, not only because of the launch of its new iPhone 12 series, but also because of its massive announcement not to add neither the charger nor the headphones with its newer models.
The “out of the box” idea, well, literally, comes in a move that will help offset the higher costs of new 5G displays and chipsets, while also benefiting the environment. Instead, a USB C to Lightning cable will be included.
This news at the October 13 launch received multiple mixed reactions from users around the world, as well as other rival Android-based companies, where several of them “duped” Apple by excluding the charger and headphones from their box.
Recently, Apple’s biggest rival Samsung took to social media to poke fun at the company for not including a charger in its latest iPhones. Since then, Xiaomi has also not left a stone unturned to deceive Apple by its decision through a tweet, which has now gone viral.
In the latest dig, Xiaomi posted a video on the microblogging site showing a person unpacking their Mi 10T Pro smartphone to reveal a power adapter inside. “Don’t worry, we didn’t leave anything out of the box with the # Mi10TPro,” the Chinese smartphone maker wrote while sharing the video.
Since it was posted last week, the clip has garnered over a million views and over 34,000 likes.
“APPLE fanboys now: we don’t need the charger in the box … we have enough money to buy a new one,” said one Twitter user.
“10/10 for marketing,” said another.
However, many users also supported Apple in its move to save the environment.
“If we support their customers like Apple, I will buy the charger myself.
The software support should be the top priority, not the plastic piece, “tweeted one.
“At least they are thinking and taking important steps towards protecting the environment. I bet it will also follow the same trend in a year or two as will the headphone jack,” wrote another.
Recently, Samsung had also shared a similar post emphasizing the fact that Galaxy phones come with a charger.
“Your #Galaxy gives you what you are looking for. From the most basic as a charger, to the best camera, battery, performance, memory and even 120Hz screen in a phone,” Samsung wrote yesterday on Facebook, sharing an image of a black charger included with your Galaxy line of phones.
