Minutes after his wife Sujata Mondal Khan joined the Trinamool Congress, Bishnupur BJP MP Saumitra Khan described his decision as a “big mistake” and said he would send her a divorce notice soon.

“I give you total freedom. This is my call for you to remove my last name ‘Khan’ from your name. BJP has given me all the recognition. I appreciate that you have campaigned for me in the past, but it is also true that I would not have won the seat without the BJP name. You have chosen politics over family. They have been trapped and it is their big mistake, ”Khan, who is also Bengal’s President BJP Yuva Morcha, told a press meeting.

On Monday, Sujata was received by TMC MP and Chief Leader Saugata Roy in Kolkata. When asked about Saumitra Khan, Sujata said: “Family and politics cannot be on the same platform, so let’s not talk about those lines. It is my decision today and who guarantees that Saumitra Khan will not join me in the future? “

Sujata, who had campaigned for her husband before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections after the court barred her from entering Bankura, said she loves challenges and does not want to work for a party that has no face for the elections. to the Assembly. Furthermore, he criticized BJP’s organizing strategies, saying: “They have six names pending for the CM position and 13 are on the waiting list for the deputy CM position. When I was in BJP and people were asking who is your face for CM, Modi had to say. Until the Lok Sabha elections it was good, but the BJP has not been able to find a face in Bengal for its party.

In a veiled reference to TMC renegade Suvendu Adhikari, “I am not an opportunist like everyone else. I was with the BJP when I was zero and gifted them a hard seat like Bishnupur. Now, the same party is giving importance to the corrupt leaders rejected by the TMC, and those who have fought for the party in difficult times have been marginalized, “he said.

Adhikari, a former TMC heavyweight, crossed into the saffron camp along with 23 other people in the presence of Union Interior Minister Amit Shah on Saturday. By inducing them into the party fold, Shah had claimed that there will be more defections to the BJP from the TMC and that the chief minister will be left alone in her party when the elections come. “When the elections come, Mamata Banerjee will be alone at her partyShah said while taking photos at the TMC of a series of defections ahead of next year’s Assembly elections for 294 seats.
