A day after outrage over the death and forced cremation of a Dalit gang rape victim from Hathras, the Uttar Pradesh government is facing backlash after another Dalit woman died after a gang rape in the Balrampur district of the state.
Samajwadi Party Supreme and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav told the Yogi government strongly: “After Hathras, now a daughter was harassed and gang-raped in Balrampur. The victim died in serious condition. Condolences! “The BJP government should not be negligent in this case as was done in Hathras and arrest the defendants immediately.”

Congressional leader Raj Babbar wrote on his Twitter account: “Now in #Balrampur, a girl from Dalit society was harassed. A similar incident has also occurred in Azamgarh and Bulandshahr. In all cases, the victim is waiting for justice. The BJP, which came to power with the promise of women’s safety, has now forgotten.
“In the last two days, two Dalit girls were gang-raped in UP and both succumbed to the brutal assault,” the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) tweeted.
The 22-year-old woman who works in a private company, according to family members, did not return home Tuesday night, police officials said. When she returned home Wednesday in an autorickshaw, she had an intravascular cannula, medically known as a Vigo and used to administer injections, glucose or other fluids into the body, inserted into her hand, police reported according to the PTI news agency.
According to family members, the girl looked dazed and in serious condition, after which she was rushed to the hospital by her relatives. She died on the way to the hospital, Balrampur SP Dev Ranjan Verma told PTI.
The family has reported a gang rape after the hospital reported the incident to the police.
Police officers said the two defendants in the case have been detained.
This is the second incident of gang rape and death reported just a day after another Dalit victim of gang rape and brutality from Hathras in Uttar Pradesh was killed on Tuesday, sparking furious protests across the country.
