KABUL: The Afghan government remains grateful for India’s commitment and solidarity with Afghanistan, the country’s Acting Foreign Minister Mohammed. Haneef atmar.
On Twitter, Atmar thanked Foreign Minister S Jaishankar for reaffirming India’s support for peace and the people of Afghanistan.
“My sincere thanks to EAM @DrSJaishankar and @MEAIndia for reaffirming India’s support for the peace and free will of the Afghan people. We remain deeply grateful for India’s commitment and solidarity with Afghanistan,” Atmar tweeted.

Atmar’s appreciation for India comes as peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban kicked off in the Qatari capital Doha to end decades of war that has killed tens of thousands.
Jaishankar participated on Saturday during the opening ceremony of the Afghan peace negotiations in Doha through a videoconference and reiterated that the peace process must be led by Afghanistan and guarantee the interests of minorities and women.
He said that Afghan soil should never be used to carry out activities against India and supported the need for an immediate ceasefire to establish lasting peace in Afghanistan.
On his Twitter, the Foreign Minister said: “He addressed the conference on the Afghan peace negotiations in Doha today. He conveyed that the peace process must be Afghan-led, Afghan-owned and Afghan-controlled, respect national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Afghanistan, promote human rights and democracy, ensure the interests of minorities, women and the vulnerable, and effectively address violence throughout the country. ”
