Adil Hussain rejoiced in Delhi’s international crime Emmy victory: he did not resort to unnecessary violence or profanity to gain attention – bollywood

Actor Adil Hussain says he was sure his web show Delhi Crime won the International Emmy for Best Drama Series. And one of the main reasons for its confidence was that it did not have unnecessary elements to make it sensational or loud.

“It was unlike any other series that came out until 2019 from India, which did not resort to unnecessary violence, profanity or cunning. There was pure respect for the incident that happened (gang rape case in Delhi in 2012) and extreme responsibility with sensitivity, ”he says.

He adds that putting on a show about the incident was something anyone else could have done as well, but not with the care they exercised. “I hadn’t seen any show before Delhi Crime that had all these qualities. There was a lot of skill and wisdom. People make series that only talk about darkness without an aesthetic sense, that’s what it has won according to me. Anyone can do a series on an incident of this scale, but I would once again take advantage of violence to get people’s supposed attention. It can be extremely attractive even if it doesn’t use words that are unnecessarily unsightly, ”explains the 57-year-old. However, he clarifies that he is not against using that language, but only when necessary.

He confirms that he will also star in the second season. On what made him accept the program in the first place, Hussain says: “Richie (Mehta, director) is a dear friend and wanted to be in Delhi (where I live) for a few months. He approached me for this series and wanted me to play a role. I said ‘give me a role that doesn’t require more than three or four days of shooting in a month!’ He said the police commissioner would be perfect. “
