As reported by PTI, the Bengaluru Central Crime Division arrested Kannada actor Sanjjanaa Galrani when the police expanded their drug investigation and found his links to the Kannada industry. The massive development comes days after actor Ragini Dwivedi was arrested on drug trafficking charges. PTI further claims that Sanjjanaa Galrani was raided by CCB at his residence in Indira Nagar on September 8, after which the actor was taken to the CCB office for questioning.

Rahul, Viren Khanna also arrested
Bengaluru Joint Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil confirmed that the team carried out search activities at Sanjjanaa’s home, after obtaining a search warrant from the court. Officials also mentioned that Sanjjanaa was kept under a scanner, since her friend, real estate Rahul, was arrested by the CCB in connection with the drug case. Viren Khanna has also been arrested in the drug case.

Karnataka’s Senior Deputy Minister Ashwath Narayan said: “There are many verticals. Drug use and abuse have no distinctions. All sectors of society have been involved in this. As a government, it is our responsibility to ensure that this threat is contain. Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, we are doing our best to break down all kinds of vertical supply chain, sources and users. “

Indrajit Lankesh’s claims
Weeks ago, filmmaker and director Indrajit Lankesh was summoned to the Bengaluru Central Crime Branch police, as he had claimed days earlier that many stars in Kannada’s film industry were using drugs. Indrajit Lankesh was questioned by the CCB for almost 5 hours after he chose to go public with the drug situation in the Kannada film industry. Indrajit Lankesh, brother of the late journalist Gauri Lankesh, mentioned that he has shared some names and documents with officials.

Basavaraj Bommai, who is Karnataka’s current Interior Minister, recently mentioned that the government has ordered the CCB to investigate the alleged involvement of people from the film industry in drugs. Sanjjanaa Galrani hails from Bengaluru and made her debut in 2006. The actress also appeared in the acclaimed Kannada film “Ganda Hendathi.”
