Actor Raza Murad is cited by police for alleged welfare society fraud

Film actor Raza Murad was called to the Shyamla Hills Police Station in Bhopal on Wednesday to record his statement regarding a bogus welfare society in which his name was listed as a member. Murad, in his statement, denied any association with the society, police said.

The E-block Lakeview Enclave Welfare Society came to light during the seizure of documents from the residence and offices of Pyare Mian, 68, owner and publisher of a small newspaper and resident of Shyamla Hills, who was arrested on 17 July at a hotel in Srinagar for allegedly raping six minor girls in Bhopal and Indore and committing fraud. He is currently in jail.

Pyare Mian had formed a bogus society called the E-Block Lakeview Enclave Welfare Society and committed fraud by collecting money from different people in the name of welfare, said Tarun Rathi, in charge of the Shyamla Hills Police Station.

“During the investigation, we found that this society had eight members, including Raza Murad and three members of Mian’s family. We called Murad to register his statement. In his statement, Murad said that he had no association with the society and that his signature on the papers was forged. Murad also filed a complaint with the police on Wednesday against Mian for using her forged signature, ”Rathi said.

Speaking to the media outside the police station, Murad said: “I own an apartment on Ansal Square in the Shyamla Hills area and I am also a member of the Lakeview Enclave Welfare Society, but I didn’t know there was a E-block separate society. I don’t know Mian. Mian could have my photos with him because, being an actor, I know so many people without knowing her personally. ”

The police will record statements of other persons whose names appear in the documents of that society as members. If necessary, Mian will be booked for committing another fraud, the police officer said.

Mian’s assistant Sweety Vishwakarma, 21, used to bring girls from underprivileged families to Pyare Mian luring them in with cleaning jobs in posh areas. Mian used to invite them to parties, where she used to force the girl to consume alcohol and used to rape them, according to police.

Up to six FIRs against Mian were filed at Shahpura, Koh-e-fiza and Shyamla Hills Police Stations at Bhopal and Palasia Police Station in Indore under sections 366 (a) (Procurement of Minor Girls), 376 (2) (n) (repeated rape), 120 b (criminal conspiracy), 420 (forgery) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 5/6 and 14 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO ), and under the relevant sections of the SC / ST (Atrocity Prevention) Act, according to the police.
