Actor Arun Govil, famous as Lord Ram from TV series ‘Ramayan’, joins BJP


He joined the BJP just before assembly elections in four states and the Union Territory of Puducherry.

Actor Arun Govil, known for playing Lord Ram on the television series Ramayan, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday. Govil joined the party in its Delhi office.

He joined the BJP just before assembly elections in four states and the Union Territory of Puducherry.

Raised in the cantonment town of Meerut, Govil, the son of a hydraulic works engineer, studied at various schools in Saharanpur and Shahjahanpur. After school, he enrolled in a bachelor’s degree at Meerut and completed it at Mathura.

Before rehearsing the role of Ram, Govil proved successful on the big screen in his first film Paheli (1977) from the Barjatyas house of Rajshri Productions.

Ramayan reportedly found a place in the Limca Book of Records because of his historic audience, back in the day. The show held the record for the world’s most-watched mythological television series until 2003.

After Ramayan, Govil continued to work in television, appearing in a lot of mythological series such as Luv Kush, he played Harishchandra in the television series Vishwamitra and Buddha in a series of the same name.

He has also worked on various Bhojpuri, Braj Bhasha, Odia, and Telugu films.
