Madhya Pradesh Interior Minister Narottam Mishra, who on Wednesday fueled the controversy with his “I do not wear a mask” comment, said today that he regretted making the comment.

On Wednesday, the 60-year-old BJP leader told reporters: “I don’t wear a mask on any show. Isme kya hota hai? ” (so what). ”He was answering a question about why he was not wearing a face cover at an event in Indore.
Wearing a face cover is mandatory in public places, according to government guidelines on coronavirus.

Amid a surge in coronavirus cases in India, the country with the second highest number of cases in the world, Prime Minister Modi has been repeatedly appealing to people to follow social distancing rules and wear masks. The country’s count crossed 57 lakh cases this morning; more than 90,000 patients have died so far.
Congress latched onto the Madhya Pradesh Interior Minister’s comment on Wednesday and launched an attack on social media.

Are the rules only for ordinary people? ? ” Madhya Pradesh Congress spokesperson Narendra Saluja tweeted yesterday in Hindi.
Madhya Pradesh has recorded more than 1.13 lakh of cases so far and 2,077 Covid-related deaths. Indore, one of the worst affected districts in the state, has registered more than 20,000 cases.
Indore Municipal Corporation imposes a fine of 200 rupees on those who do not wear a mask.
