About 150 patients move when a fire breaks out in a hospital in UP’s Kanpur

This morning a fire broke out in the cardiology department of a government hospital in the Uttar Pradesh city of Kanpur, police said, adding there were no immediate reports of casualties.

At least 146 patients were admitted to the LPS Cardiology Institute, part of the UP government-run Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi College of Medicine, located in the city of Kanpur when the fire broke out around 8 a.m., police said. , adding that all patients were transferred to security. “The fire is under control. 146 patients were safely evacuated after the fire started. Nine patients are still in the ICU, but are medically safe and sound. No firefighter casualties have been reported so far,” Aseem Arun , Police Commissioner, Kanpur, said.

“The fire broke out in the warehouse. Things are under control now and officers are on the ground. There are no casualties. Around 140 patients were evacuated,” Additional Chief Secretary Awanish Kumar Awasthi told the news agency PTI, adding that the flames have been sprayed.

Kanpur Additional Police Commissioner Akash Kulhari said a pair of firefighters were put on duty to put out the fire.

Windows on the hospital’s first floor were smashed to let smoke out, an official said.

According to Swaroop Nagar (SHO) Station House Officer Ashwani Pandey, the fire broke out on the first floor of the hospital.
