The Aam Aadmi Party will participate in the state elections in Uttar Pradesh in 2022, the party chief and Delhi’s chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, said today. Attacking rival parties, Kejriwal said the AAP, if elected to power, will form a corruption-free government in the neighboring state, adding that it has kept its promise in the national capital.
As the AAP makes constant efforts to expand its political footprint, the 52-year-old party chief said: “In the past eight years, the AAP has formed a government three times in Delhi. It has become the main opposition party in Punjab. But today, I want to make an important announcement … the party will participate in the state elections in Uttar Pradesh in 2022. “
“Today, people from UP are forced to come to Delhi in search of basic services like health and education. Can’t the largest state in India also become the most developed state?” he added while addressing a virtual press conference while criticizing the government of Yogi Adityanath.
“The dirty politics of the UP and the corrupt leaders and the blocking of the development of the state. The locals have given a chance to all the parties. But each government has set new records of corruption,” Kejriwal added.
Mr Kejriwal, whose AAP is proud of the work done in the education and health sector in the national capital, made comparisons between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
