Srinagar: The Indian Army is considered one of the most professional and ethical forces in the world, and this was once again evident, after it showed its commitment to its motto ‘a soldier is a soldier first and anything else later’ by restoring the tomb. damaged from a decorated Pakistani. officer in the Naugam sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
The grave is of the late Major Mohd Shabir Khan, who was assassinated by Indian Army soldiers in 1972 at an outpost along the Line of Control (LoC). Khan received the Sitara-e-Jurat, Pakistan’s third highest military award.
While restoring the grave of the late Pakistani Army personnel, the Srinagar-based Chinar Army Corps said that a martyred soldier, regardless of the country he belongs to, deserves honor.
Chinar Corps tweeted a photograph of the epitaph on the tomb that read: “In memory of Major Mohd Shabir Khan, Sitar-e-Jurrat Shahid on May 5, 1972, 1630 H, killed in counterattack by 9 Sikhs.”
“In keeping with the traditions and ethics of the #Indian Army, #ChinarCorps resurrected a damaged grave of Major Mohd Shabir Khan, Sitara-e-Jurrat, Pakistan Army, who was killed in action (KIA) at an advanced location throughout LC in Naugam Sector on May 5, 1972, “Chinar Corps posted on his Twitter account.
“A fallen soldier, regardless of the country he belongs to, deserves respect and honor in death. #IndianArmy supports this belief. This is #IndianArmy to the world,” read the Army tweet.
The gesture of the Indian army is in stark contrast to the barbaric actions of the Pakistani army in the past. In January 2020, the Pakistan Border Action Team was accused by India of beheading a doorman and removing his head. BAT is made up of terrorists and personnel from the Pakistani army.
In another barbaric incident, a Jawan from the Indian Army and a Border Security Force (BSF) agent were killed and their bodies mutilated by the Pakistani Army on May 1, 2017.
The chief of the Indian army, General Manoj Mukund Naravane, declared on October 15 that Pakistan is desperately trying to infiltrate terrorists into the Indian side before the onset of winter. The army chief assured the nation that his force is determined to eliminate terrorists trying to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir.
