A 46-year-old government hospital employee in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad died Sunday night, 24 hours after receiving an injection of the Covid vaccine. The district medical director has said the death is not related to vaccination.
Ward Boy Mahipal Singh died after complaining of chest congestion and shortness of breath. According to his family, he was not feeling well before the jab.
“He was vaccinated on Saturday around noon. On Sunday he felt breathless and complained of chest congestion. We are investigating the reasons for death. We will do an autopsy. It does not appear to be a reaction to the vaccination. He also did night service on Saturday and there were no problems, “MC Garg, Moradabad’s medical director, told reporters late at night.
The post-mortem report reveals the immediate cause of death as “cardiogenic shock / septic shock” due to “cardiopulmonary disease”, according to the Uttar Pradesh government.
The man’s son told the media that he may not have been well before the vaccination, but that he felt worse after receiving the vaccine. “My father left the vaccination center around 1.30 pm, I took him home. He felt short of breath and was coughing. He had a little pneumonia, the usual cough and cold, but started to feel worse after returning home.” explains Mahipal Singh. his son Vishal told the media.
In a press release, the UP government said it vaccinated 22,643 people on Saturday, Day 1 of India’s Covid vaccination campaign. The next vaccination day in Uttar Pradesh is Friday January 22nd.
