An ordinary classroom fight over seats turned deadly in the Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh when a Class 10 student shot and killed another, police said Thursday.

According to police, the two boys, both 14 years old, squabbled over seats in class on Wednesday.

One of them was so outraged by the exchange that he brought his uncle’s gun to school and shot the other to death Thursday morning.

“Apparently the two had a fight about sitting in class yesterday. The defendant went home and stole a revolver with license that belonged to his uncle, who is in the army and is currently home on leave,” the senior said. police officer Santosh Kumar Singh.

“He came to class and shot the other student. He was arrested in the same place,” added the policeman.

Police found another domestically made pistol in his purse, suggesting how determined he was to carry out the shooting.

The incident took place around 11 a.m. after the first two class periods.

The defendant shot his classmate three times: in the head, chest and stomach. The victim died on the spot.

After the shooting, the boy tried to flee the scene. He reached the ground floor from the first-floor classroom and fired into the air to dissuade others from catching him.

However, some teachers managed to overpower him and take the weapon from him. The boy fiercely defended himself even then, police said.

The teachers called the police who detained the boy.
