Updates from Coronavirus India: With 47 victims in the past 24 hours, India recorded the largest increase in deaths on Tuesday as the number reached 590. Confirmed cases rose to 18,601, of which 3,251 are recovered patients and 14,759 are active cases.
Although the restrictions are eased and the Union government is looking for several options for the “gradual” lifting of the post-May 3 blockade, sources say the Center is preparing for a second wave in late May or early June. There is a feeling that area-specific locks and relaxations will have to be the norm, depending on the rise and fall of cases, until September at least. While the government expects the second wave won’t touch March’s maximum of 3.4 days of doubling, it will still mean an increase in new cases.

A family member of a staff member of the State Presidency tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, after which authorities asked 125 people, who had been in contact with the patient, to be in home quarantine.
