NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended Ramzan’s greetings to the nation on Friday, after moon sightings in the country announced the arrival of the Islamic month considered sacred among Muslims. The prime minister also wished for a “decisive victory” in the ongoing battle against the coronavirus pandemic, hoping for a healthier planet.
On Twitter, Prime Minister Modi wished people a “Ramzan Mubarak” greeting and prayed for the safety, well-being and prosperity of the people.

Moon announced the start of Ramzan, the holy month of fasting, was sighted in Lucknow on Friday night. Both the Shiite and Sunni lunar committees, confirming the same, had said that the first brush of the month will be on April 25 of this year.
With the month of Ramzan, the month of fasting begins from dawn to dusk and the worship of Muslims throughout the world. People from various other communities also fast.
