WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump suggested studying the injection of disinfectants into patients with Covid-19 or bringing UV light “inside” their bodies to kill the deadly virus, drawing immediate criticism from health experts, while a major producer of disinfectants urged people not to listen to what dangerous speculation!
Launching a new scientific study conducted by his department, Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for Science and Technology Bill Bryan said Thursday that the coronavirus dies at a much faster rate when exposed to sunlight and moisture.
“The virus dies faster in direct sunlight. Isopropyl alcohol will kill the virus in 30 seconds,” he told White House journalists in the presence of President Trump in his daily briefing on the Covid-19 situation in the country.
Bryan’s comments left Trump wondering if there was a possibility of injecting the chemical into a person infected with COVID-19 as a deterrent to the virus.
“I see the disinfectant that removes it in a minute, a minute … And is there a way that we can do something like that by injecting it into the interior, or almost cleaning it? number in the lungs, so it would be interesting to verify that, “the president of the United States told reporters at the press conference.
Trump also raised the possibility of using light to combat the deadly viral infection.

“I certainly wouldn’t recommend ingesting a disinfectant internally,” CNN quoted Hahn as saying.
Dara Kass, an associate professor of emergency medicine at Columbia University Medical Center, also asked people to refrain from doing such things.
“Please do not take bleach or isopropyl alcohol to remove # COVID19 from your saliva,” he tweeted.
“It is horrible,” Kass told the Post.
People who consume these chemicals often die. Those who survive generally end up with feeding tubes, as a result of erosion of the mouth and esophagus by cleaning agents, he said.
Even when experts from the medical community came forward to challenge Trump’s latest comments, Deborah Birx, one of the top public health experts in the United States, did not respond to comments about light therapy or disinfectant injections.
