Singer Sona Mohapatra accused actor Kartik Aaryan of causing her publicists to post negative stories about her in the media, after she criticized a video shared by him, in which he was perceived to be exhibiting misogynistic behavior. Kartik had removed the controversial video after receiving criticism.

But Sona has now claimed the actor is behind the negative stories about her, reportedly calling her in for her comments against Kartik. She wrote on Twitter on Thursday: “It is sad how you are going around pressuring your public relations people to put headlines on how ‘all’ netizens ‘criticize’ me for having problems with your ‘silly-dangerous’ video. I thought you realized your insanity @ TheAaryanKartik, were you genuine in your retraction … did MCP’s ego flare up?

She continued, “and dear everyone, including the hungry PR @TheAaryanKartik, the sister who slapped him in a previous video doesn’t justify his video either. This is India. What do the statistics show? How many women hit men at home versus to the opposite? Which gender is likely to be most instigated towards violence?

Kartik’s video showed the actor losing his temper after his sister served him an unappetizing meal. In the video, Kartik could be seen savoring the food, frowning, and then tossing his sister off the balcony. “It is a slap in the face of women who are trapped inside their home due to the closure of the coronavirus, who suffer domestic violence,” Sona had written in a tweet.

Kartik addressed the controversy by removing the video in question and posting another one in which his sister could be seen taking her “revenge” on him. Sona had appreciated it by shooting down the controversial video.

Kartik has drawn criticism over the years for starring in multiple movies with misogynistic overtones like the Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety movies. Her film Pati Patni Aur Woh also had a monologue that shed light on marital rape. The line was later removed from the movie.
