A new theory from Avengers: Endgame means that Captain America’s dance with Peggy Carter occurred within the Soul World, after he returned the Soul Stone as an alternative to his off-screen mission at the end of the movie.
A fan posted the theory on Reddit and wrote, “Cap’s off-screen mission at the end of Endgame was to return all of the stones to their original timelines exactly at the time they were removed. Most are pretty simple, like returning the time stone to the Elder, putting the power stone back on Morag, etc., but returning the soul stone to Vormir doesn’t seem so simple. “A soul for a soul” are the words used by the Red Skull when others take the stone, so according to that logic, returning the stone surely “one soul for one soul” would still apply.

The fan continued, “Could this mean that Cap lived his dance with Peggy in the Soul World, exchanging the stone for Peggy’s soul so she could dance?” The fan speculated that this theory “could rule out the dilemma that Peggy had another husband on a different timeline.”
The concept was apparently popular with different followers. “I thought about this a while ago. My idea was that if taking the soul stone requires that you “lose what you love,” then perhaps giving up the soul stone voluntarily allows you to get what you love, “wrote one individual in the comment part.” You know, this I like theory much more than I thought while reading the title, “they wrote.

He then returned to the main timeline as an old-fashioned man and withdrew from Captain America’s cloak.
