NEW DELHI: President of Congress Sonia Gandhi on Thursday accused the BJP of spreading the virus of prejudice and communal hatred in the country and said “serious damage” is being done to social harmony.
Addressing a meeting of the Congressional Working Committee, Gandhi said that this should concern all Indians and that Congress will have to work hard to repair this damage.
“Let me share with you something that should concern each and every individual as Indians. When we should address the coronavirus together, the BJP continues to spread the virus of communal prejudice and hatred,” he said.
“It is causing serious damage to our social harmony. Our party, we will have to work hard to repair that damage,” he added.
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and top Congressional leaders attended the meeting via video conference.
This is the second time that the CWC, the main decision-making body of Congress, has met in the past three weeks.
