Calcutta:
An alleged video clip of Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sitting in a wheelchair and swinging her leg in a cast back and forth has gone viral on social media, giving rivals the opportunity to claim that he was playing with his wounds to gain sympathy.
The TMC, however, has condemned “the way in which the supreme of the party has been insulted” and has said that the rival BJP must learn to respect women.
PTI was unable to reliably verify the authenticity of the video.
BJP spokesperson Pronoy Roy, who shared the 30-second clip on Facebook, said Ms. Banerjee should “stop putting together a drama about her injuries” to gain public support amid the assembly elections.
“This video capture that has appeared on networking websites has not been filmed by anyone from the BJP. It was recorded by some TMC party workers. We want her to return to normal life soon, we pray for that too … but She must stop putting this drama moving around in a wheelchair.
Then @MamataOfficial ji claims her leg is broken but this video tells a different story …

“If you were exercising your leg by shaking it, I suggest you start walking as that will help you recover faster.”
Mocking the prime minister, Rahul Sinha, a senior leader of the saffron party, said that the bandage of the supreme TMC will not buy his votes.
“The more she loses confidence, the bigger her bandage becomes. People are not buying this … She must have forgotten which leg is injured and shake her left foot. She has already lost the election, the bandage will not be able to save her from defeat. imminent, “said Sinha.
Making a strong exception to the comments made by BJP, State Minister Shashi Panja said that the saffron camp, by raising suspicions about Ms. Banerjee’s injuries, has insulted not only her but all the women of Bengal. .
“We condemn the way the BJP is insulting our beloved CM. They are not only insulting our CM, but also the other women of the state. We urge them to show due respect to the women of this state,” said Panja .
Echoing it, former BJP leader Yashwant Sinha, who joined TMC recently, said that if anyone was lying, it was the BJP and not the TMC.
“Are (the BJP leaders) trying to say that many people involved (in their treatment), including eminent physicians, are lying? Only the BJP is capable of telling such lies. I have no doubt that they are the ones who are behind this (propaganda), “said Mr. Sinha, who had served as finance minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s cabinet.
TMC spokesman Kunal Ghosh also criticized the BJP, saying that the people of Bengal will give the BJP an appropriate response for its “dirty policy”.
“If they (the BJP leaders) spend so much time watching I madefeet, they might as well fall on their feet. We condemn this policy that targets a woman who campaigns sitting in a wheelchair after being attacked. This shows that the BJP has lost its plot, “Ghosh said.
Ms. Banerjee suffered injuries to her left leg, waist, shoulder and neck from falling after allegedly pushed by criminals in Nandigram on March 10.
