In reaction to the incident, the Trinamool Congress said it was not the first time that Banerjee had been silenced. “This is not the first time that @MamataOfficial has been silenced. Also before, she was attacked on this historic lawn for supporting farmers. But nothing will break your will. She was, is and will continue to be your strongest voice, ”the party said on Twitter.
Shortly after the news broke, TMC workers across the state took to the streets and raised slogans against BJP for plotting to kill Banerjee.
Top TMC leaders, including his nephew Abhishek Banerjee, Derek O’Brien, Sukhendu Shekhar Roy, Dr. Shantanu Sen, Subrata Bakshi, rushed to the hospital to inquire about his health.
Chaos ensued outside the SSKM College and Hospital as West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar rushed to meet with the Prime Minister.
A large number of TMC supporters launched slogans against Dhankhar and threatened to teach the BJP a lesson for attacking ‘mother Mamata’.
Concerned about the incident, the Electoral Commission has requested a report from the local Purba Medinipur administration.
The ANI news agency reported that, according to an eyewitness named Suman Maity, Mamata had been surrounded by a crowd of people at the time she was injured. “When she came here, the public gathered around her and injured her neck and leg,” said the student. When asked if she was pushed, she answered “no” and said her car had moved slowly at the time of the incident.
