NEW DELHI: Union Minister V Muraleedharan who announced that the former head of the Delhi metro, E Sreedharan, would be the BJPThe main ministerial candidate in Kerala issued a clarification saying that the party had not yet made a final decision.
“There were some statements that E Sreedharan will be the CM candidate in Kerala. I heard media reports that the party announced him as the CM candidate,” Muraleedharan told the ANI news agency.
“After I spoke to the party chairman, he said that he had not made any statement and that he was only referring to some issue in Kerala, so it should not be considered as an announcement, I am clarifying,” he added.
Muraleedharan’s clarification came hours after he announced that Sreedharan will be the BJP’s top ministerial candidate for the Kerala assembly elections.
“BJP4Keralam will fight Kerala polls with E Sreedharan Ji as its top ministerial candidate. We will defeat both CPIMKerala and INCKerala to provide development-oriented and corruption-free governance for the people of Kerala,” he had said on Twitter.
“Kerala BJP, under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, will endeavor to serve the needs of the people of Kerala. The new Kerala under E Sreedharan Ji will pave the way for efficient and effective government in the state.” added.
Former Delhi Metro Chief E Sreedharan formally joined the BJP in Malappuram on February 25 in the presence of Union Minister RK Singh.
