The Co-WIN portal allows eligible citizens (seniors and those over 45 who have comorbidities) to register and get an appointment for vaccination.
Registration for the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign across India started on Monday March 1 and the Union government has opened registrations for the same on the Co-WIN portal. The portal allows eligible citizens (seniors and those over 45 who have comorbidities) to register and get an appointment for vaccination.
On Monday, in an important clarification, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that the Co-WIN website is the only place to register and the Co-WIN mobile app is for administrators only. Citizens must register on the portal or website, and it is not possible to register for vaccination through the app.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to register for vaccination.
1. Log in to the registration website on your phone or from your computer: https: // selfregistration.
2. The OTP will be sent to you by SMS. Once you receive it, enter the OTP on the website and click the “Verify” button.
3. After this, the website will direct you to the registration page. Here, you need to fill in your personal details, such as your proof of identification, gender and year of birth. It is important to bear in mind that you must carry the ID you select when you are going to be vaccinated. For example, if you enter your driver’s license details, you need to bring your driver’s license to the vaccination center. If you are over 45, you must select the relevant comorbidities you have. You have to carry a medical certificate at the time of vaccination. Once you enter the details, click the “Register” button at the bottom right of the page.
4. The next page asks for “Account Details”. Here, you can add up to three others that will be linked to your mobile phone number. To add people, click the “Add more” button at the bottom right of the page.
5. Your name will then be registered on the portal and you can now schedule your appointment. Click the “Calendar” icon to book your appointment or click “schedule appointment”.
6. Now the website will allow you to find your nearest vaccination center. From the drop-down menu, you can select your location: fill in your state, district, block code and PIN. After completing the details, click the “Search” button to find the vaccination center in the selected location.
7. By clicking the “Search” button, the website will display the list of vaccination centers according to your search criteria. The name of the center will be displayed on the right side of the page. If you cannot see any centers based on your selection criteria, try changing the pin code or block you have selected.
8. Once you find a vaccination center of your choice, click on it and the next available appointments will be available. You can see the date and time of the next available appointment.
9. Once you select your appointment, you will be directed to a confirmation page with the appointment details. TNM also signed up for an appointment, but when we contacted the hospital, they informed us that they had not yet received their shots. Therefore, it is recommended that once your appointment has been arranged that you call the hospital to confirm your appointment.
10. Once your appointment has been set, it can be rescheduled at any later stage, but before the day of the vaccination appointment. To do this, log in to the “Citizen Registration” module with your registered mobile number and click “Reschedule”.
11. Once you are vaccinated with the first dose, a follow-up appointment for dose two will automatically be scheduled at the same center where you received the first dose of the vaccine. This appointment will be scheduled for a date 28 days later. In case you have moved to another city, the appointment can be rescheduled for the nearest vaccination center in that particular city.
