Tool Case: Disha Ravi Moves Delhi HC To Prevent Police From Leaking Probe Material To Media

Climate activist Disha Ravi, who was arrested in the toolbox case, had the Delhi High Court request instructions from the Delhi Police not to leak any investigative material, including the alleged content of the conversations / communications from the petitioner to a third party.

In her plea, the 22-year-old Bengaluru climate activist also tried to stop the media from publishing excerpts of her private chats.

The Farmers ‘Protest Toolkit had gone through the police scanner after Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg tweeted it on February 3, with police claiming that the sequence of events in the farmers’ protests, including the violent incidents at the Red Fort on Republic Day, he was a “copycat” of the alleged action plan in the document.

Police have so far arrested Ravi in connection with the case, while defender and activist Nikita Jacob and activist Shantanu Muluk have obtained a traffic bond.

On Wednesday, in ordering bail for Jacob, against whom a non-bail order was issued in Delhi in the case, with personal bail and bonds of Rs 25,000, the Bombay High Court noted: “This protection is afforded for a period of three weeks from today (Wednesday) to allow the applicant to approach the competent court to seek adequate reparation “. Muluk received a 10-day pre-arrest traffic bond by the Aurangabad High Court on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, a Delhi court ordered the Delhi police to provide Ravi with a copy of the FIR and other documents related to his arrest in connection with a toolkit on the farmers’ protest. The court also ordered the police to provide him with copies of the arrest memorandum and the pre-trial detention document that was posted to request his interrogation in custody.

The court also allowed him to obtain warm clothing, masks and books. Metropolitan Chief Magistrate Pankaj Sharma allowed Ravi to speak with his family members by phone for 15 minutes a day and meet with his lawyer for 30 minutes a day while in police custody.

In the meantime, expanding their investigation into the toolkit that Delhi Police say was intended to tarnish India’s image, the investigating officers are known to be researching the role of a UK-based member of the NGO Extinction Rebellion or XR, of which Nikita Jacob and Shantanu Muluk are members.
