The Bengaluru activist is one of the initial members of a climate-related campaign called “Fridays for Future.”
In their request for pre-trial detention, the police said that Ravi’s custody is required for seven days as they wanted to investigate a broader conspiracy against the government of India and determine the alleged role of Khalistani elements.
Police told the court that the activist allegedly edited the toolbox on February 3 and many other people were involved in the matter.
Ravi collapsed inside the courtroom and told the judge that she edited only two lines and that she wanted to support the farmers’ agitation, according to an ANI report.
Metropolitan magistrate on duty Dev Saroha from Patiala’s house court complex allowed the police to question Disha Ravi for five days.
According to Delhi police officers, Disha is a key leader in the “toolkit” case, having admitted during initial questioning that he edited the toolkit and added a few lines to it before spreading it further.
It has been recorded in the sections of the IPC related to sedition, the plot of a criminal conspiracy and the promotion of enmity between groups.
The toolbox, police said, is older and indicates a copycat execution of a conspiracy behind the January 26 violence. The specific plans for January 26 were mentioned in the document that Thunberg removed shortly after uploading it and published an “edited” version later.
Shortly after it was uploaded, crucial parts of the document were deleted and edited, a development that raised alarms and prompted the Delhi Police’s social media monitoring team and its cyber cell to launch an investigation.
