Rahul Gandhi will likely be the first congressional speaker at the budget debate at Lok Sabha

The leader of Congress has targeted the government of the Union for the budget, accusing it of reducing the pension of soldiers.

Rahul Gandhi is likely to open the Union Budget debate on behalf of Congress at the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, party leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said.

“We had named Shashi Tharoor as the first speaker. But it may change,” said Chowdhury, the party’s floor leader. The budget under debate is likely to take place after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s response to the motion of thanks to the president’s speech.

Gandhi has been attacking the central government on various issues, ranging from the confrontation on the Line of Royal Control (LAC) to the Union Budget.

The Wayanad congressional deputy in Kerala accused the Center of cutting the soldiers’ pension in the budget and ignoring the nation’s farmers and youth.

Further sharpening his attack, he also said that the Center has only three to four industrial friends who are ‘God’ to them.

“Mr Modi’s ‘Vikas’ power supplies will be reduced to a tenth. Country loss, crony gain,” Gandhi had said on Twitter on Tuesday.

Also earlier, the congressional leader had targeted the Union government over the budget, saying that cowardice runs deep in the government of India.

On Twitter, he had stated that in her budget speech this year, the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman used the word “prime minister” six times and the word “corporations / companies” 17 times, but did not mention “defense” or “China”. even once.

“Modi’s crony-centric budget means that Jawans facing Chinese aggression in extreme conditions will not gain support. Defenders of India betrayed,” Gandhi said in one of his recent post-budget tweets.

Sitharaman presented the Union Budget for fiscal year 2021-22 at Lok Sabha on February 1.
