Popular television journalist Nidhi Razdan claimed on Friday that she had been the victim of a “very serious phishing attack” in which she was offered a job as an “Associate Professor of Journalism” at the prestigious Harvard University in the United States.
In a statement on Twitter, Razdan said that he was led to believe that he would join the University in September 2020, but citing the Covid pandemic, he was told that his classes would start from January.

“In June 2020 and after 21 years with NDTV, I decided to move on and said that I would join Harvard University as an associate professor of journalism,” Razdan said in a statement posted on Twitter. “I had been led to believe that I would be joining the University in September 2020. As I prepared to take on my new assignment in January 2021. Along with these delays, I began to notice a number of administrative anomalies in the process. described to me. “
The journalist also said that she dismissed the “anomalies” as part of the “new normal dictated by the pandemic.”
“But recently the representations made to me were of an even more disturbing nature. As a result, I contacted the higher authorities at Harvard University for clarity. At their request, I shared part of the correspondence that I thought I had received from the University, ”he added.

It was after contacting university authorities, Razdan said, that he realized he was the victim of a phishing attack.
“After hearing from the University, I have now learned that I have been the victim of a sophisticated and coordinated phishing attack. In fact, I did not receive an offer from Harvard University to join their faculty as an associate professor of journalism. The perpetrators of this attack used forgeries and clever misrepresentations to gain access to my personal data and communications, and may have also gained access to my devices and my email / social media accounts, ”he said in his statement.
Razdan also said he filed a complaint with the police and handed over the relevant documents. “I have asked (the Police) to take immediate steps to identify, apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators of this heinous attack,” he added.
On June 13, Razdan had announced that he would be leaving NDTV for a position at Harvard University.
