President Kovind donates Rs 5 lakh for the construction of the Ram temple as the fundraising campaign begins


On Friday, President Ramnath Kovind made the first contribution to the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya by donating a sum of 5.01,000 rupees, the ANI news agency reported. The president made the contribution to the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerath Kshetra trust, created by the government to take care of the construction and administration of the temple.

A delegation consisting of Alok Kumar, the international acting president of Vishva Hindu Parishad, Govind Dev Giri, treasurer of Ram Janmabhoomi Teerath Kshetra Trust, and others had come to seek the president’s contribution to the construction of the temple.

“He is the first citizen of the country so we went to him to start this campaign. He donated a sum of 5.01,000 rupees, ”the ANI quoted Alok Kumar from VHP.

The HPV and partner organizations have launched a fundraising campaign, Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir Nidhi Samarpan Abhiyan, from January 15 to February 5, where they will contact Hindu families in different states to collect funds for the Ram temple. Retired officials, including Nripendra Mishra, the prime minister’s former chief secretary, and KK Sharma, a former BSF CEO, are part of committees set up by the trust to examine various aspects of the temple’s construction.

The trust estimates the total construction cost of the temple complex in Ayodhya it will be about 1,100 crore rupees, including about 300-400 crore rupees to be spent on the temple itself.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also presented a check for Rs 1 lakh to VHP as a contribution to the construction of the Ram temple. Former Bihar MP, CM Sushil Kumar Modi, also led a fundraising cause in Patna.
