Train services from Bengaluru airport to the city started. Check rates, schedules and other functions


With this rail service, it can take a maximum of 45 minutes to get to the airport from Bengaluru city.

With the opening of the new line initially, it is expected to benefit a section of the Bengaluru airport workforce of approximately 25,000 people.

Offers a fast and economical transportation option for air passengers

The new train station will provide an economical option for passengers traveling to the Kempegowda International Airport. Fares from Bengaluru City Train Station to Airport Stop Station will be as low as 10 for passenger trains and 30 for express trains.

At present, passengers going to the airport must pay 270 to ride Vayuvajra, the state-owned Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation special air-conditioned bus and private taxi operators were charging 700 to 1200 for each trip.

Characteristics of the airport stop station

Halt Station, with a 230-meter-long platform, will be connected to various parts of the airport by a shuttle bus service, managed and operated by BIAL. The schedule and frequency of the shuttle service will be synchronized with the train schedules.

The station has a reservation desk, a lobby area, restrooms for passengers with reduced mobility, granite benches to sit on, and drinking water facilities. Based on usage and acceptance, the facility will be updated over time to meet the travel needs of the public and employees.

Indian Railways is proactively exploring options to increase train frequency by operating trains from Yelahanka, Yeshwanthpura, Majestic Railway Station and Whitefield.

Karnataka’s Chief Minister, BS Yediyurappa, joined many others in greeting people on the occasion.

“Starting today, Bengalis can take a train to Kempegowda International Airport, Devanahalli Station. Trains will operate from Bengaluru City Station to the newly built KIA, Devanahalli Railway stop station,” the Chief Minister tweeted.

The Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Sadananda Gowda, also greeted the people and expressed his gratitude to the Union Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal.
