New Delhi:
A 36-year-old woman stabbed to death her husband, posted the information on his social media account and then attempted to kill herself inside her rented apartment in the Chhatarpur area of south Delhi on Saturday.
Delhi police confirmed the information on Monday, saying the matter came to light after they opened the apartment door upon receiving calls from an alert neighbor and the owner.
While the neighbor flagged the woman’s Facebook post on her call to the police control room, the landlord called for help because her tenants weren’t opening the door.
“The door was locked from the inside. There was blood stained on the apartment’s floor and walls,” a police statement said.
The 37-year-old man was reportedly found lying in a pool of blood and his body bore stab wounds. His wife was found unconscious in a bed near his body, police said, adding that she is currently being treated at the AIIMS hospital in Delhi.
The police have brought a murder case against the woman, a native of Ujjain from Madhya Pradesh. They have yet to record their statement.
“The couple worked for an insurance company in different capacities. They did not have a child. Our initial investigation into the case suggests that there were differences between husband and wife,” a police statement read.
The couple had been living in the Chhatarpur Extension apartment since 2013, police added.
