All members of the Indian cricket team, including the five isolates, and support staff tested negative for the coronavirus after undergoing an RT-PCR test on Sunday. Amid unwanted media scrutiny after five Indian players (Rohit Sharma, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill and Navdeep Saini) went to a restaurant in Melbourne, they all proved that all necessary protocols were followed. “Members of the Indian cricket team and support staff underwent an RT-PCR test for Covid-19 on January 3, 2021. All tests were negative,” the BCCI said.

A visit to a restaurant on Friday by India’s Vice Captain Rohit, Shaw, Pant, Gill and Saini made headlines after a fan in a series of tweets claimed that he had paid the bill for Indian players at the restaurant. He also said that he ordered extra food so he could watch the players eat at the restaurant. He went on to add that Pant had hugged him.

But on Saturday, he released a clarification saying: “Pant never hugged me, it was enthusiastically said that we maintained social distance throughout J. Apologies for lack of communication @BCCI @CricketAus @dailytelegraph (sic)”.
