Punjab Prime Minister Opposes Governor’s Summons to Senior Officials | Chandigarh News

CHANDIGARH: Chief Minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh on Saturday he strongly objected to the governor summoning the state’s top brass instead of seeking a report directly from him on the state of law and order in response to the government’s politically motivated allegations. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
While the BJP propaganda about the collapse of law and order in the state was nothing more than a tactic to divert attention from the farm law problem and the resulting farmers agitationIf, however, the governor had any concerns about the situation, he should have raised the matter directly with him as custodian of the national portfolio, the prime minister said.
The prime minister reacted to the governor summoning the secretary general and the DGP to question them on the alleged problems of public order in the state amid sporadic incidents of damage to some mobile towers.
Amarinder Singh criticized the BJP state leadership for adding fuel to the fire, with its irresponsible statements, in the already overloaded atmosphere caused by the draconian farm laws.
He called it a vicious game plan by the party to undermine the peaceful agitation of farmers by calling some minor incidents of damage to some mobile towers a law and order issue.
“These damaged towers can be, and are being repaired, but what about the lives of farmers lost in the freezing cold on the borders of Delhi, where they continue to fight for their rights amid the utter apathy of the government led by the BJP in the Center? ” ? “asked the Chief Minister.
He expressed shock that not a single BJP leader had expressed concern about the deaths of protesting farmers, including some by suicide.
“Lives lost cannot be recovered,” he said, calling on Punjab BJP leaders to stop politicizing peaceful agitation with their ill-conceived comments.
Instead of smearing farmers with terms like Naxalites, Khalistanis, etc., the BJP should pressure its central leadership in the Indian government to listen to the voice of the ‘annadatas’ and repeal the ‘black’ farm laws that they threatened farmers. livelihood and future of the farming community, said the prime minister.
“At a time when the very existence of our farmers is at stake, the BJP leaders are busy indulging in petty policies and also dragging the Governor’s Constitutional official into his ugly agenda,” he added.
Calling “ unfortunate ” the fact that the governor had bowed to these antics by the BJP, the prime minister observed that it had taken the former only one day to react to the complaint of the state leaders of the BJP about the alleged collapse of law and order in Punjab.
This is in stark contrast to the long delay in sending the state amendment bills, approved by all political parties (except the BJP) in the vidhan sabha, to the president for his assent, he noted.
