Former Indian cricket captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly was admitted to Woodlands Hospital in Kolkata on Saturday after complaining of chest pain, according to reports from the PTI and ANI news agency.

Speaking to ANI, sources close to the former India captain said Ganguly was complaining of chest pain and may need angioplasty. “Dada (Sourav) complained of chest pain and was rushed to hospital. You may need to have angioplasty. He’s out of the woods, ”said the source.

The BCCI President visited Eden Gardens on Wednesday and discussed the preparations for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with the President of the Bengal Cricket Association (CAB), Avishek Dalmiya.

Other CAB officials were also present at the stadium, including Secretary Snehashis Ganguly and Deputy Secretary Debabrata Das.

Earlier this week, Ganguly had also cleared the air about his entry into politics ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections next year. He said he went to meet the state governor by invitation.

“If the governor wants to meet you, you have to meet him. So let’s keep it up, ”Ganguly said.

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar met with Ganguly on Sunday to discuss various issues and agreed to visit Eden Gardens by invitation.

“I had an interaction with ‘Dada’ Saurav Ganguly, BCCI President in Raj Bhawan yesterday at 4.30pm on various topics. He accepted their offer to visit Eden Gardens, the oldest cricket ground in the country established in 1864, ”the governor tweeted.
