DMK Chairman MK Stalin vowed on Saturday to leave politics if he did not prove corruption charges against Tamil Nadu Municipal Administration Minister SP Velumani.
Responding to Velumani’s challenge to prove the corruption charges against him or to resign from politics, Stalin said: “I am ready to leave politics. Referring to the memorandum presented by the DMK to the governor last month listing the corruption charges against the CM and his colleagues, Velumani had said that he would resign if the charges were proven and was seeking to know whether Stalin was ready to leave politics if it did not.
“We will not only prove the charges against the minister, but we will also take him to court and punish him for his corrupt acts …” Stalin said.
Stalin promised to order an investigation into the “mysterious death” of the late Prime Minister J Jayalalithaa, as the judicial commission set up by the government has not presented its report even after three years, immediately after taking power.
