IPS official D Roopa, who was Karnataka’s first female Home Secretary and is also famous for her tweets, was transferred on Thursday as CEO of the Karnataka State Handicraft Development Corporation. On Friday he assumed the new position. The transfer comes amid his public dispute with another IPS officer, Hemant Nimbalkar, who was also transferred. Nimbalkar was the additional commissioner (administration) in Bengaluru before being transferred to the internal security department.

The two IPS officers clashed after D Roopa accused Nimbaklar of irregularities in the bidding process for the Rs 619 million Safe City project in Bengaluru under the Nirbhaya scheme. Nimbaklar, on the other hand, accused D Roopa of interfering with the bidding process without jurisdiction.

After the transfer, D Roopa on Thursday took to Twitter and said the transfer would put her on an equal footing with Nimbalkar, but she doesn’t care about the post. “I have been transferred more than twice as many times as the number of years in my career. Whistleblowing and firm action are fraught with risk and I know it. I keep doing my job without concessions, this post from that post, it doesn’t matter (sic), ”he tweeted.

“The important thing is to defend the public interest and punish the corrupt. If my turn paves the way for action against the corrupt, I appreciate it, ”he tweeted.
