New IRCTC e-Ticketing website, mobile app launched: Check out the revamped features of www.irctc.co.in and the IRCTC Rail Connect mobile app | Economy news

New Delhi: Indian Railways has revamped and updated its e-ticketing website www.irctc.co.in and the IRCTC Rail Connect mobile app, which are used to book train tickets “online”.

The Honorable Minister of Railways and Commerce and Industry and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Piyush Goyal, has launched the enhanced e-ticketing website and app, offering best-in-class features.

The railway customer has been at the center of the design of this new world-class website for the reservation of train tickets. Innovative user personalization features linked to user login have been incorporated for the first time, along with customizations for a seamless travel experience, one-stop train selection to book, and integrated booking for meals and lodging with tickets.

Highlights of the updated IRCTC website:

  • Full user customization linked to user login, such as meal reservation, room pick-up and hotels, has been integrated and can be directly in conjunction with tickets, thus providing a comprehensive solution for traveler needs.
  • Predictive input suggestions using Artificial Intelligence that will be given to the passenger when they enter the station or passenger. This will greatly reduce the hassle of searching for stations and will also save time in booking tickets.
  • Easier check of refund status on user accounts page. Previously, this feature was not easily accessible.
  • ‘Regular’ or ‘favorite’ trips can be easily booked by automatically entering the relevant details.
  • The search and selection of trains was simplified by placing the information on one page to reduce the time spent by passengers and improve the booking experience.
  • All information on one page: availability for all classes is displayed together with the respective fares for all trains. Just scroll down the page and choose ‘Book’ your desired train and class. Previously, seat availability and fares for each train could only be viewed after clicking on that train individually.
  • A ‘caching system’ has been introduced in the backend to provide the availability status. This will avoid delays in loading availabilities.
  • In case of tickets on the waiting list, their ‘confirmation probability’ is shown. Previously, this had to be verified for each waitlist state separately.
  • Availability for other dates can be alternated on the page itself.
  • Notices during the reservation process to make it even easier for users less familiar with the computer. This will save you time wandering around the website to search for it.
  • The details of the trip will also be displayed on the payment page. It will ask the user to verify and rectify, if there is any typographical error. These corrections can only be corrected by visiting a PRS center.
  • The website has built-in functions to improve cyber security through the use of proper captchas.

Goyal had said on December 25 that IRCTC’s e-ticketing website should be fully featured to make booking easy for passengers.

Enhanced and enhanced e-ticketing website and mobile app aim to provide the best user experience among various other online ticket and travel website.

The level of these features will be even more advanced than that currently offered by other ticketing websites. On most websites, the station search entry is still alphabetic, the availability status is not there or is old. Plus, the convenience of integrated room and meal booking on this updated e-ticketing website is unmatched.

Today, this IRCTC e-ticketing website has more than 6 million million active users, who use it to book more than 8 million tickets per day. About 83% of the total booked train tickets are booked through this online system.
