With just a few hours to mark the start of the 2021 New Year celebrations, the Dubai Roads and Transportation Authority (RTA) has revised its service schedules from December 31, 2020 to January 2, 2021. The tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa, is the epicenter of New Years celebrations every year, but unlike in previous years when the subways leading to the Dubai Mall or Burj Khalifa metro station stopped to divert to the crowd from a distance, the tram will run nonstop from 6 a.m. December 31 until 1 a.m. on January 2.
However, given the current Covid-19 pandemic, visitors flocking to downtown Dubai will be required to wear face masks throughout the night and in all locations as a precaution. Although a complete disinfection of the area has been carried out prior to the gala event, hand sanitizer stations will also be available at every door on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard.
The QR code for the public on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard is black. This QR code will be the visitor’s access to Downtown Dubai on New Years Eve and can be used through registration through the U By Emaar app, free of charge. The area will be dotted with tents for first aid and lost property assistance, while ambulance access will also be provided to those displaying the QR code and accessing the observation areas in central Dubai via any of the five erected gates.
The color of the QR code is dark red for Dubai Opera, gold for hotel guests, light blue for restaurants and eateries, and all guests attending the NYE gala must have one of the six colors of the QR code.
