NEW DELHI: On New Years Eve, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recalled the doctors, health warriors, sanitation workers, pharmacists and other frontline workers involved in the fight against coronavirus and urged people to act cautiously next year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that people should not lower their guard and strictly adhere to the preventive rules of the coronavirus even after vaccination.
“Before, I said, ‘Dawai nahi toh dheelai nahi’. Now, I say ‘Dawai bhi aur kadaai (caution) bhi’. Our mantra for the year 2021 is ‘Dawai bhi aur kadaai bhi,'” he said.
Preparations are in the final stages for the country’s Covid-19 vaccination program, Modi said, adding that people will receive doses of the Indian-made vaccine.
“The number of new Covid-19 cases is decreasing in the country now. We are preparing to run the largest vaccination program in the world next year,” he added.
The prime minister also paid tribute to lakhs of frontline workers who have sacrificed their lives in the performance of their duties.
