All schools in Maharashtra’s Mumbai will remain closed until January 15, 2021, the ANI news agency reported citing the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), as a precautionary measure to control the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid- 19) in the city.
The civic body had decided in November to keep all Mumbai schools closed until December 31. The Maharashtra government had previously allowed classes 9 to 12 to reopen from November 23.
“Considering that BMC is the local body in Mumbai, we have made the decision to keep the schools closed. We have also studied the spread pattern of Covid-19 in other parts of the country after the schools reopened and therefore we have decided to keep them closed until December 31, ”said a BMC official in November.
