Virat Kohli took to social media to congratulate “the whole team” on their eight-field victory against Australia in the second test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The victory helped the visitors level the four-game series at 1-1. Kohli, who returned home after the first test match, took to Twitter and wrote: “What a victory this is, an absolutely amazing effort from the entire team. I couldn’t be happier for the guys and especially Jinks who led team to victory in an amazing way.. From here onwards and upwards. “

India sealed the victory on Day 4, with young Shubman Gill making a graceful display of batting. He scored a 35-run undefeated hit from 36 balls, and also threw seven fours.

Earlier on Day 4, Australia was eliminated by 200 in their second inning and held a slight 69-run lead. Although India lost two early wickets at Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara, alternate captain Ajinkya Rahane kept Gill company, leading the visitors to a resounding victory.

It’s worth noting that Rahane also crashed for a century during India’s first entry of the second Test Match.

Kohli was part of the first Test Match, which India lost. The BCCI granted him paternity leave, as the hitter and his wife Anushka Sharma are expecting their first child in January 2021.

The third test match begins on January 7 and is scheduled to take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground. But an increase in coronavirus cases in Sydney has cast a cloud over SCG hosting the test.
