Actor Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, welcomed the statement by Maharashtra’s Home Secretary Anil Deshmukh, urging the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to reveal the findings of the investigation into the death of the actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Maneshinde said in a statement: “I welcome the statement of Shri Anil Deshmukh, Interior Minister of the Government of Maharashtra, calling on the IWC to release the report in the case of the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. There was quite a stir when the Mumbai police took two months to initiate investigations and the report has yet to be made public. An FIR was filed in Patna making false accusations against Rhea Chakraborty and her family in July 2020. The Mumbai Police, ED, NCB and CBI, including the Patna Police, have conducted investigations against Rhea. NCB arrested her in a bogus case with no evidence. She was harassed by various agencies and was held in custody for almost a month until the Bombay High Court released her on bail. “
Further calling for the case to be closed, the lawyer added: “Rhea filed an FIR accusing the SSR sisters of administering illegally obtained medicines to her without proper medical advice and based on a false prescription. He alleged that the cocktail of illegally administered drugs and medicines could be the cause of his death. It has been more than six months since SSR died. I have always said that the truth will remain the same who investigates the case. Whatever the circumstances, the CBI should release its findings after 4 months of investigations by the country’s main investigative agency. It is time for there to be a closure to this sad event ”.
Maharashtra Interior Minister Anil Deshmukh on Sunday urged the CBI to reveal whether Sushant’s death was a suicide or murder, making his findings public. He said: “The people of Maharashtra and the country are eagerly awaiting the CBI report on its investigation into the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput. People ask me about the status of the case. I ask the CBI to reveal whether it was suicide or murder. Five to six months have passed since the case was handed over to the CBI. Therefore, the agency must make its report public as soon as possible to clarify whether it was a suicide or a murder. “
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14, 2020. His girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty was arrested on September 8 by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), accused of acquiring drugs together with Sushant Singh Rajput and paying the same. He was released on bail after nearly a month in Byculla jail.
