LIVE MARKET: Indices Hold Near Record; Sensex earns 300 points

LIVE updates: Indian markets parked near their new record, scaled in early deals Monday amid positive global signals after US President Donald Trump signed a $ 2.3 trillion aid and spending bill pandemic. Additionally, the UK’s historic trade deal with the European Union also helped investor confidence.

Among the major indices, the S&P BSE Sensex rose 300 points to 47,300 levels. The index reached an intraday high of 47,355. The broader Nifty50 index was also testing the 13,850 mark. NTPC, Sun Pharma, ONGC, State Bank of India and Reliance Industries increased 1% and were the top winners from Sensex.

All of Nifty’s industry indices were trading green, led by the Nifty Metal Index, up 2 percent.

In the broader markets, the S&P BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices rose more than 1% each.
