Amaravati:
A test of the coronavirus vaccination program will take place on Monday in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh.
Andhra Pradesh is one of four states chosen by the Center to conduct an end-to-end trial for COVID-19 vaccination on December 28.
The state government chose the Krishna district for the trial, where it will take place in five locations, according to Health Commissioner Katamaneni Bhaskar.
“The trial aims to test planned operations and established mechanisms for vaccination against COVID-19 in the state. It will provide information on gaps or bottlenecks so that they can be addressed before the actual campaign starts,” he added. Said Mr. Bhaskar on the eve of the program.
It would be used to test readiness to vaccinate previously identified beneficiaries from specific groups supported by Co-WIN, an electronic application.
The Commissioner said that the main objective of the trial was to verify the operational feasibility of Co-WIN in the field, in addition to the planning, implementation and reporting mechanism.
Planning and preparations, including prerequisites for the introduction of the vaccine according to the Operational Guidelines, would also be assessed by the trial.
The test would be carried out in five sessions at identified locations with 25 test beneficiaries (health workers) for each session.
These test beneficiaries would be present at the session sites for the necessary simulation, he added.
Mr. Bhaskar said that an AEFI (Adverse Event After Immunization) committee formed according to the new guidelines and that AEFI treatment centers were also identified.
“After the rehearsal, we will prepare a report for the State Working Group, which will review the comments and guide us on future actions,” he said.
The report will also be presented to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the commissioner said.
