HARIDWAR: The Kumbh Mela will take place for 48 days in Haridwar next year instead of three and a half months, said the state’s Urban Development Minister, Madan Kaushik.
“The Uttarakhand government will issue the notice for the Kumbh Mela in February instead of January 1, ”said the minister.
“Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, preparations have been made for the main baths to be held in March-April. Devotees can take a real bath during these 48 days,” the minister said.
He added: “The devotees who come to Kumbh Mela You will also be allowed up to the bathroom. While the Kumbh Mela has been for three and a half months for years, this time the Kumbh duration will be a month and a half due to changing circumstances. ”
Uttarakhand Prime Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has authorized funding for several projects before Kumbh Mela 2021, a day after Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad expressed his displeasure, claiming that the administration “had not yet started preparations”.
The prime minister approved Rs 17.34 crore for a surveillance system, for which Rs 6.94 crore will be released as the first delivery. Along with this, the CM has allocated Rs 15.46 crore for the purchase of material to establish a 1,000 bed temporary Covid care center and Rs 6.18 crore will be released as the first installment.
