“The people of Maharashtra and the country are anxiously awaiting the CBI report on their investigation into the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. People ask me about the status of the case … I request the CBI to reveal whether it was a suicide or murder, “Deshmukh said at a press conference.
“It has been five to six months since the case was handed over to the CBI. Therefore, the agency must make its report public as soon as possible to clarify whether it was a suicide or a murder,” he added.
Rajput was found dead in his apartment in Mumbai ‘s Bandra on June 14 this year. Previously, the Mumbai police had filed an accidental death report and were investigating the matter.
On August 19, the Supreme Court had upheld the transfer of an FIR, filed by Rajput’s father in Patna against actor’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and others for allegedly instigating his suicide, to the IWC.
The central agency had taken over the investigation from the Bihar police.
In October, the medical board of the New Delhi-based All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) had ruled out the murder for the death of Rajput, calling it “a case of hanging and death by suicide.”
